Missions Interlink is a Commission of the Australian Evangelical Alliance Inc and thus linked to the World Evangelical Alliance. At the 1994 National Forum a Standards Statement was adopted which expresses the values of Missions Interlink and its members.
Missions Interlink is an association of evangelical mission agencies, missionary training Bible colleges and related organisations It particularly encourages networking between members and it also acts as an advocate for its members and their missionaries in areas such as Taxation, Social Security, and Medicare.
A major activity of Missions Interlink is the national conference (ConneXions). Between conferences, a national committee meets two or three times a year and the National Director distributes a quarterly Bulletin Board to members, covering important issues, events and resources.
Missions Interlink is also active at state level. State branches provide opportunities for members to pray for and encourage each other. They organise seminars on such issues as member care (debriefing, re-entry etc), short-term missions, tax and superannuation. Other activities include caring for missionary kids and promoting missions awareness in local churches and at conferences and conventions.
Missions Interlink has developed a three week intensive Transition Training course which provides preparation and orientation to participating members’ candidates prior to their deployment as cross-cultural missionaries. It is held up to three times a year in Sydney and Melbourne. We also sponsor MILL (Maximum Impact Language Learning) – an eight day introduction to language learning currently held annually (June) in Melbourne.
Other web based resources include the Second Wind network (matching personal profiles with opportunities for service), Prime Timers and state branch activities (MI-NSW and ReachOut). Missions Interlink also distributes the Global Prayer Digest, a monthly international Daily Prayer Guide for those concerned about praying more effectively for the world's many Unreached People Groups.
