What happens when I subscribe?
When you click on this link
you connect to Crucible via an RSS feed which allows you to retrieve
the latest content from Crucible whenever there is a new edition. Your
privacy is protected as you don’t have to give out your e-mail address.
Instead, a ‘feed reader program’ will automatically check the site for
you and notify you of new editions.
What is a feed reader?
Feed-reader
programs can reside on your computer. They are found as part of the
later editions of some web browsers (such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla
Firefox and Opera). Or they can be downloaded to your computer
(programs such as Amphetadesk and NewsGator ) or you can use web-based programs such as Bloglines , My Yahoo , and Google Reader ).
If
your web-browser has a built in feed-reader program (you do if you are
using Internet Explorer 7 or later editions of Mozilla Firefox or
Opera) or if you have another feed-reader program already set up then
when you click on ‘subscribe’ you will be able to see that you can add
the Crucible site to your ‘Favorites’ (for Internet Explorer) or your
‘Live Bookmarks’ for Mozilla Firefox) or the other program you have set
up. Just proceed and subscribe.
How do I get a feed reader?
If
you don’t have a feed-reader set up and don’t have one built into your
browser then when you click on ‘subscribe’ you can simply choose one of
the feed-reader programs listed (or if you want to use your browser –
perhaps you are using Internet Explorer 6 - then download the latest
edition of it and then come back and subscribe). Either way will work.
When you select one of these downloadable or web-based programs for the
first time you will need to set it up and then you will be able to
subscribe to Crucible.
How do I know I am subscribed?
You
will know that you are subscribed properly when the Crucible web-site
appears in your list of ‘Favorites’ (for Internet Explorer) or in your
‘Bookmarks’ (for Mozilla Firefox). If at any time you want to
unsubscribe you simply delete it.
